Despite a bearish month in February and a negative start to March, the crypto market is stabilizing again. Currently, Bitcoin (BTC) is still attracting the most attention, but according to WisdomTree, Ripple (XRP) and Solana (SOL) will steal the show this year in the upcoming altcoin season. Will 2025 be the year of the altcoins? WisdomTree thinks these two altcoins will be the biggest crypto climbers of the year.
Expectations for altcoins such as XRP and SOL have grown further after President Trump announced last weekend that he would include them in his crypto reserves. This, in combination with progress in the field of crypto regulation in the US, could unleash a gigantic bull run in 2025. In such a bull run, strong altcoins are not left behind by investors.
Altcoin season coming, according to WisdomTree
At the beginning of this month, WisdomTree shared a report in which the fund manager indicates that XRP and Solana ETPs (Exchange-Traded Products) are about to be approved. Analysts have high expectations for the ETPs and think that this will attract institutional investors to utility tokens in addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Thanks to these ETPs, institutional investors can invest in altcoins such as XRP and SOL in a safe manner and without hassle. At the same time, the use of XRP and SOL in the crypto reserves can bring even more attention to these altcoins.

Interest in these new ETPs may be skyrocketing after the large outflows from the Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in recent weeks.
Solana (SOL)
Solana experienced a lot of selling pressure in February and early March due to the recent token unlock. A large unlock of 2.7 million tokens is also expected in April. However, this is more than three times smaller than the March unlock.
Solana has the potential to attract a lot of attention from institutional investors. However, this may also increase its popularity among retail investors. It is one of the best blockchains in the field of dApps, NFTs and DeFi.
The approval of an ETP could help the Solana price fly past its current all-time high of $294.
Ripple (XRP)
Despite the bearish selling pressure in February, the XRP price managed to remain consistently above $2. This is a sign that the altcoin is already receiving a lot of support and could explode in value.
While Solana is a star in the field of dApps, NFTs and DeFi, Ripple focuses on global payments. Unlike SOL, XRP is already getting a lot of attention from institutional investors because of its utility for banks and institutions.
In addition to the possibility of ETF approval in 2025, XRP also stands to benefit from the potential end of its lawsuit against the SEC. After years of legal battles with the American regulator, 2025 could be a very good year for Ripple.
Alternative altcoins
SOL and XRP have the potential to rise significantly, but are already receiving a lot of attention from investors. Some are therefore choosing to look at smaller cryptocurrencies, which may explode in the next altcoin season. A promising project that is popular among these investors is Solaxy ($SOLX), an emerging Solana Layer-2.
The Layer-2 makes it possible to process transactions even faster and at an even lower price than on Solana itself. The native token, $SOLX, can be used for transactions and staking rewards. You can temporarily purchase this token in a presale, which has already raised more than $25 million for the project. After launch, this token could increase in value, depending on the success of Solaxy.
